In its first year of activity, the Gedeon Empowerment Project has identified two main areas of intervention: education and housing partnerships.

STEAMS 3000

STEAMS 3000 is a series of K-12 curriculum programs aimed at integrating six disciplines, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Sustainability, in an interactive hands-on approach.

The programs focus on giving students the tools to imagine, design and plan tomorrow’s world.

HURRICANE MATTHEW RECONSTRUCTION

Marie and her daughter lost their house and everything they owned after hurricane Matthew devastated parts of Haiti in October 2016. GEP purchased a piece of land for them to build a house. An architect was sent on location to supervise the construction, and to ensure the house was built with techniques that would allow it to withstand the next natural disaster.

EARTHQUAKE READINESS DOCUMENTARY

GEP is producing a documentary which aims to educate the Haitian population about the imminent danger of another devastating earthquake and to investigate what public authorities are doing to prevent and mitigate its effects. Entitled “Goudougoudou: Danger of an Earthquake Looms Over Northern Haiti“, the documentary will be released in 2018.
